Clinton High School’s softball field is coming closer to completion.

Anderson County Schools Director Tim Parrott said at the Monday, March 18, school board meeting that workers would finish work on the field in 45 days.

He said the hitting facility and concession stand are ready, and the lights and dugouts were in progress. He said the county had purchased turf and netting and those were being installed.

He said the winning bid was $270,000, beating out the next-lowest bid, which was over $500,000.

“That’s how much things have gone up,” he said.

The school system has purchased a mower and has begun to mow the field, he said.
