Leavell earns 2024 All-State honors

Deamion Leavell recently made history on the wrestling mats for Clinton High School when he claimed an individual state championship.

In February, Leavell became the first Dragons’ wrestler to win a state championship at the Williamson County Expo Center. The sophomore won the Class A State Championship in the 165-pound weight class when he defeated Pigeon Forge’s Wyatt Howard, 3-1, by virtue of a takedown in sudden death overtime in the title match in Frankin.

Leavell’s state championship landed him a spot on the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Class A All-State Wrestling Team, which was released last week.

The Clinton sophomore was joined on the team by fellow 165-pounders Howard, Quenston Davis (Munford) and Nickolas Taylor (Whitehouse Heritage).
