Lady Hawks end season as district champs
Clinton Middle School’s softball team saw its successful 2024 season come to an end in the state sectionals Saturday.
The Lady Hawks were eliminated from postseason competition with a 16-2 loss to Ross N. Robinson in Kingsport.
Despite losing in lopsided fashion, the Lady Hawks had some bright spots in the contest. Tegan Bunch went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Bryanah Holt was 2-for-3. She also doubled and scored, while Addison George was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Clinton, however, won the district tournament Friday as it took down Horace Maynard 14-9 in a slugfest.
Holt went 4-fot-4.
Holt doubled and tripled. She stole a base, drove in three runs and scored three more for the Lady Hawks.
Norah Elliott came with three extra-base hits and she homered and doubled twice. She scored three runs and recorded four RBIs.
Bunch had two hits, including a home run. She scored three times.
On May 7, the Lady Hawks outlasted the Lady Devils 4-1.
McKenley Osborne had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
George had two hits and scored a run, while Hadley Bunch was 1-for-4 with an RBI. She also doubled and scored.
In the circle, Holt started and pitched five innings.
She gave up one runs and seven hits, while striking out five.
George threw two innings of scoreless relief. She surrendered a hit and a walk. She also had a strikeout.
