Soccer ’Cats make deep run into postseason

Oak Ridge High School’s boys soccer team opened the week in the midst of what it would hope to be a deep postseason run.

The Wildcats, the top seed in the District 3-AAA Tournament, won the tournament championship 2-0 over third-seeded Knoxville Halls Saturday night at home. The victory avenged the Wildcats’ regular-season penalty kicks shootout loss to the Red Devils.

ORHS was set to host Hardin Valley Academy on Tuesday in the Region 2-AAA elimination semifinals.

Results were not available at press time, but the Wildcats entered the match with hopes of avenging a regular-season loss to the Hawks.

Oak Ridge was well- represented when the District 3-AAA coaches announced their postseason awards on Monday.

Eli Lynch was named District 3-AAA Player of the Year. He was joined on the first-team all-district squad by Emmett Lee, Daniel Jackson, Gabe Weber and Daniel Vogt.

Ayden Clements, Juno Morrill, Eli Pearson and Cody Steffen received all-district second-team honors.
