Softball All-District teams named

Clinton High School made a third-consecutive trip to the Region 2-AAA softball tournament recently after a second-place finish in the District 4-AAA regular-season standings and a runner-up finish in the league’s postseason tournament.

The Lady Dragons had six players receive all-district honors when the league’s coaches released their postseason awards recently.

Bree McKamey, one of the area’s top two-way players, was one of three Clinton players to receive All-District 4-AAA first-team honors. She was joined on the first team by teammates Lynnlee Adkins (a catcher and first baseman) and Taylor Sherwood, another two-way player.

The Lady Dragons also had three second-teamers, including Tomi Taylor, Heaven Britt-Kimbriel and Sara Bishop.

Anderson County, which finished fourth in the regular season, had four players named to the first team.

Center fielder and leadoff hitter Kaycee Baldwin and Alexis Siebers, who batted second for the Lady Mavericks, were named to the first-team squad.

ACHS had a pair of freshmen receive second-team all-district honors.

Pitcher Addy Grooms and Ella Varner, a top power hitter, were named to the squad.
