Two local singles players and one doubles team competed in the Region 2-AA tennis championships Monday, May 13, at Tyson Park.
In girls singles, District 3-AA champion Sara Boundy, a three-time league singles finalist, lost to Farragut’s Alexandra Vallova in the semifinals.
Vallova advanced to the championship match, where she lost to two-time defending state singles champion Riley Cassity.
In boys singles, Anderson County High’s Reece Russell lost his semifinal match in three sets to William Blount’s Blaine Barber.
In girls doubles, the Lady Mavericks’ tandem of Stella Farrow and Eberle Mayes lost in the semifinals to Lea Washburn and Perrin Stidham of Maryville.
