Moody finishes in top 10
Mavs trio deliver stellar performances at Nike and Adidas Championships
Three Anderson County High School track and field athletes competed on the national stage at two national championship meets over the weekend.
At the Nike Under-20 Outdoor National Championships in Oregon, Ava Moody and Cameron Hardy came up with stellar performances. Meanwhile, Luke Dark posted a top finish at the Adidas National Championships in South Greensboro, North Carolina.
Moody, who won two state championships at the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro last month, posted a ninth-place finish on the West Coast Saturday as she crossed the finish line in 10 minutes, 17.90 seconds in the Girls two-mile run.
Moody who claimed Tennessee state titles in both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs in May, competed in the Emerging Elite En Route Division.
Cameron Hardy, a rising sophomore at ACHS, competed in the Freshman Division of the one-mile run. He came in 63rd as he posted a time of 4:49.71 in Oregon.
In Greensboro, Dark finished fourth in the shot put completion as he recorded an effort of 18.29 meters in the Championship Division.
Dark, a rising junior for the Mavericks, won the TSSAA Class AA State Championship at the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro in May.
