The city of Oak Ridge is sponsoring its annual fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day once again.

The fireworks will go off in A.K. Bissell Park at 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike Oak Ridge, TN 37830 on July 4 beginning at dark, around 9:45 p.m.

The Oak Ridge Community Band will perform before the fireworks.

The concert is free, but the band will accept donations to help cover the cost of equipment and other expenses.

The music is expected to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The city advises anyone planning to attend bring a lawn chair or blanket for outdoor seating. The Oak Ridge Fire Department will establish a safety zone. People should sit only in the designated areas. The city will close most of A.K. Bissell Park for safety reasons during the fireworks show and set up.

Drivers won’t be allowed to park along the Oak Ridge Turnpike right of way.

Drivers also should not park on private property without permission from the owner.

The city will close Badger Avenue to through traffic from ORAU Way to the Oak Ridge Arts Center for the duration of the fireworks display, as this part of the road is in the fireworks fallout zone.

Police officers will direct vehicles leaving the Civic Center after the fireworks display ends to turn right, eastbound, onto Oak Ridge Turnpike.
