Moody, Dark, Greehalgh named to TSWA All-State Track and Field teams

Some area high school track and field athletes were recently honored by the state’s sportswriters.

Three Anderson County athletes were named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Class AA All-State track and field teams.

One Oak Ridge distance specialist was named to the TSWA’s Class AAA team.

ACHS’s Ava Moody was a double honoree as she won a pair of state championships in May at the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.

Moody won the state title in both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs.

For the Mavericks, Luke Dark was named to the team after winning the state championship in the shot put. Vance Laster also received all-state honors after winning the state championship in the 3,200-meter run.

In Class AAA, Oak Ridge’s Mason Greenhalgh won the state championship in the 800-meter run in the Midstate and earned all-state honors from the TSWA. The sophomore won the school’s first state championship in any traditional sport in 11 years.

Greenhalgh also competes on Oak Ridge’s cross country and swim teams.
