Dear Editor,
Unfortunately, special interest Political Action Committees (PACs) have mailed many negative ads that look like they are from the candidates for state representative. These PAC ads do not belong in local elections.
By law, candidates cannot be involved in preparing and paying for these Political Action Committee mailers. PACs can take photos available on public web pages and create attack mailers that very often incorrectly represent the candidate’s position and in a very negative way. The only way to tell a PAC did the mailer is from the tiny footnote required by law naming the PAC that prepared and paid for the mailer.
Mailers prepared by and approved by the candidate’s campaign are required to state they were paid for by the candidate. If you want to know more about a candidate, message or call them or stop by and see them at early voting sites. Or talk to the people [who] know them personally.
