‘Nine’ opens at Oak Ridge Playhouse July 19
Oak Ridge Playhouse presents the musical “Nine” from July 19- 28.
The show is for PG-13 audiences.
It examines famed Italian film director Guido Contini’s world, blending reality and fantasy to explore love, passion, and artistic ambition.
Tickets are on sale now. To order them or for more information on their availability call the Oak Ridge Playhouse box office at 865-482-4877.
Oak Ridge Playhouse is at 227 Broadway Ave.
The book is by Arthur Kopit with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, and the show is adapted from the Italian by Mario Fratti based on Federico Fellini Felini’s “8½.”
“Our production of ‘Nine’ has been a fascinating challenge due to its departure from traditional musicals,” said Oak Ridge Playhouse Artistic Director Reggie Law..
“Similar to Fellini’s films, the narrative unfolds conceptually within Guido’s mind,” he said. “We delve into his thoughts, memories, and artistic consciousness, transcending time and space to emphasize emotional connections over physical proximity.
“This results in a staging that mirrors Guido’s cinematic profession, incorporating split-screen-like moments and rapid shifts akin to movie jump cuts,” Law said.
