As summer slowly comes to an end, the fair has moved on to its next destination, and the tax-free weekend has come and gone once again.

Students from across Anderson County and their families are preparing for a new school year.

Some are just beginning their academic journeys as kindergartners, and others as middle schoolers.

My fellow classmates and I are starting as high school freshmen.

There are mixed emotions about the new school year, ranging from excitement and butterflies to nervous apprehension. As an incoming freshman, attending Mav Day was an exciting experience; everyone I met was nice, friendly, and helpful.

I hope this new year brings opportunities, friendships and growth.

I also hope everyone listened to Principal Downs at the informative meeting in March, joined clubs that interest them, and is ready to work hard to succeed.
