Dutch Valley raising money for playground

Dutch Valley Elementary School in Clinton is looking to raise $50,000 to replace its playground equipment.

The school’s principal, Stephanie Sherwood, described her goals in a memo to the Anderson County Board of Education.

“As you all know, the playground at Dutch Valley Elementary is a community hub and is used by many in our area for exercise and play,” Sherwood said. “Although our playground is nice and offers a lot of space, the equipment is outdated.”

In a Facebook post, the school’s parent-teacher organization encouraged people to reach out to businesses they know who might like to help.

For more information, contact Sherwood at ssherwood@acs.ac or call her at 865-457-2599.

While the funding is coming from donors, the Board of Education was still involved in approving the school’s fundraising efforts.
