Fox Toyota in Clinton has begun construction of a $900,000 addition to its service department that will add eight more bays, which will be used mostly for oil changes, dealership General Sales Manager Bryan Hedden said this week.

“Our service department is very busy, and we need more space to do oil changes faster,” he said. “We will have eight more lifts available with the expansion.”

In a building permit issued by the city of Clinton on July 12, the contractor for the 3,500-square-foot “service wing addition” is listed as ESG Construction LLC.

It’s being built on the south side of the building just behind the service entrance lanes, away from the main building, at 228 Fox Family Lane. The dealership is behind Shoney’s, just off Interstate 75, Exit 122.

“Our dealership is busier than it has even been, and we need more space for oil changes,” Heddon said.

“That’s because with every vehicle we sell, new or used, we offer free oil changes for two years or 24,000 miles.”

This is the second expansion at Fox Toyota in the past two years.

The dealership spent more than $723,000 to build a car wash and detailing shop for its own use beginning in August 2022, a move that freed up five bays for the service department at that time, Heddon said.

That’s also part of the service experience at Fox Toyota, as customers’ cars normally get a free wash when they come in for work, the dealership said at the time.
