Granny’s Attic opens in new location
Granny’s Attic antiques has opened in its new location at 370 Market St., the former site of E. Claire’s Coffee House and The Rabbit Hole bar.
Owner Kathie Creasey said Monday that she opened the doors to the business on Saturday, but was still working to get everything in place.
“I like the new space,” she said. “But we still don’t have all of the dealers set up yet.”
Creasey had operated Granny’s Attic at 341 Market St. location since 2012, but said in late July that she had lost her lease there, and would be having to vacate that space by Aug. 31.
“We were having no luck finding another space downtown, and didn’t know where we were going to go,” she said. “But the landlord called and offered us the space where E. Claire’s and The Rabbit Hole were, and we took it.”
The coffee shop and bar closed earlier this year in that building, which was owned by James R. Younkin of Oak Ridge.
His wife, Sheri Lynn Younkin, opened E. Claire’s Coffee House in March 2019, then followed with The Rabbit Hole in early September 2021. Since 2008, she had operated an event venue in the same building, called Elizabeth Claire’s Event Center.
Creasey said Granny’s Attic will be open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Going into the former Granny’s Attic location will be downtown Clinton’s first brewery, which also will have a full-service restaurant and an outdoor event space at the rear.
Construction on that project is slated to begin early next year.
