Lady Mavs rebound, defeat Mo-East and Oneida
Anderson County High School’s girls soccer team, coming off its toughest week of the 2024 season, bounced back with two wins last week.
The Lady Mavericks (4-5) traveled to Frank Lorino Fields in Morristown and routed Morristown East 6-1 on Thursday night. Emma Leander scored a hat trick for Anderson County, while Jazmyn Barnes, Roxana Aguilar, and Zoey Rose also found the net. The Lady Mavericks had managed just one goal in their previous matches, losing to Webb School of Knoxville, Knoxville Catholic, and Livingston Academy. They did edge Cleveland 1-0 during that stretch.
Bralee Hall, Olivia Madron, and Megan Shock each recorded an assist in the win over Morristown East.
Anderson County started the week with a 4-0 victory over Oneida on Tuesday. Aguilar scored twice, Leander added a goal and an assist, and Hall also scored and provided an assist.
ACHS opened District 4-AA play on Tuesday against Scott, but results were not available at press time.
The Lady Mavericks will travel to Fountain City to face Knox Central at Dan Y. Boring Stadium on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
