OR XC finishes 18th, 22nd at Huntsville

Competing at one of the biggest high school meets in the Southeast, the Oak Ridge High School cross country teams did not have their best day on Saturday.

The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats raced at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama.

Oak Ridge’s girls finished 18th, while the boys came in 22nd.

“I don’t think we ran as well as we could have,” Oak Ridge Coach Ed Wright said. “I just didn’t feel like we did what we could’ve done.”

Wright noted a few standout performances. For the girls, Dylan Job finished in the top 20, and Lily Tice had a solid run.

Among the boys, Mason Greenhalgh and Rhett Hovater performed well, but Wright was more focused on times than team standings.

Job finished 20th in the girls’ race with a time of 18:58.64. Tice came in 82nd (20:28.26). Natalie Adams was 165th (21:53.03), Brooke Taylor was 168th (21:56.99), and Emily Edwards finished 173rd (22:01.91).

In the boys’ race, Greenhalgh placed 35th with a time of 16:18.55. Hovater was 51st (16:39.76). Nolan Riden finished 154th (17:34.70), Evan Biewer was 198th (18:09.18), Patrik Vodopivck placed 213th (18:24.42), and Zachary Ibanez was 219th with a time of 18:27.56.
