Ava Moody takes first at Cherokee Classic
Anderson County’s Ava Moody had another stellar performance on the cross-country course last week.
Moody, a junior for the Lady Mavericks, won the Cherokee Classic in South Knoxville on Saturday.
She completed the course in 18 minutes, 56.79 seconds, and was the only runner to finish in less than 19 minutes.
Oak Ridge High School’s Dylan Job finished second. at 19:00.28.
The Lady Mavericks finished 13th in the team standings.
Morgan Haire placed 77th with a time of 20:23.09. Sydney Day came in 97th at 24:00.56. Marley Caldwell finished 103rd, completing the course in 24:12.79.
Morgan Lindsay recorded a time of 27:21.73 to finish 172nd. Emma Downs placed 174th at 27:23.05, and Wren Wilson came in 183rd with a time of 27:42.05.
The Anderson County boys also finished 13th at the Cherokee Classic, with a pair of athletes posting finishes inside the Top 20.
Vance Laster took 10th place at 16:44.66, and John Cutler came in 19th at 17:06.90.
Avian Laster finished 105th with 19:09.82. Michael Mattson placed 129th at 19:45.91.
Ethan Bolton was 137th at 19:52.91, Zander Vo was in 155th place at 20:36.60, and Toby Day finished 158th at 20:43.42.
