Norris police, fire open house event set for Saturday
The annual Norris Police and Fire Appreciation Day event will be held Saturday (Oct. 5) at the city’s Public Safety Building and in the Lions Club Pavilion in downtown Norris.
Free food, including hot dogs, pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw and desserts, will be available from 11 a.m. until it’s gone at the pavilion.
There will also be a silent auction at the pavilion to help raise money for police and fire equipment not covered in the city budget.
Across the street at the Public Safety Building, police officers and firefighters will be on hand to give tours of the facility and show off fire and police vehicles to visitors during the “open house” part of the event, also beginning at 11 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the nonprofit group Citizens in Support of Norris Police and Fire.
Besides getting to see the city’s fire trucks, visitors can see the city’s fleet of police vehicles, including two Dodge Chargers added to the department’s roster last year.
Police Chief Mike Poole and Fire Chief Rick Roach will be on hand, along with police officers and volunteer firefighters.
