The sixth-annual “Run for the Son” car show on Saturday at Covenant Life Church drew more than 100 classic and collector vehicles and big crowds of visitors.

Staged around the big church building along Andersonville Highway just east of Norris Freeway, the show featured classics cars, from a 1931 Ford Model A to a 1955 pink Cadillac sedan, Elvis style, to a 1969 Miami Vice edition Ferrari sports car – along with many more.

John DePew of Clin- ton brought the classic Ferrari to the show,

a Daytona 365 GTS model that he said he’s owned for the past five years.

Vintage, classic, and future classic vehicles lined the sprawling parking lots on both sides of the church, as well as the lawn in front.

Saturday’s sunny and mild weather helped contribute to the large turnout of both cars and people. Collector car folks don’t like to bring their vehicles out in the rain, so the sunny day was perfect for them to show off their prized possessions without worry.

Vehicles and people were on hand from places well beyond Norris and Anderson County.

Free lunch was pro- vided at the show, and admission to the event

was free to spectators. There was a $20

donation requested of those entering vehicles in the show.
