Veterans Day parade Saturday at 10 a.m.

The 16th-annual Anderson County Veterans Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Clinton Community Center, after the monthly Veterans Breakfast.

It will follow a route along Gilliam Street to West Broad Street, turning left onto Main Street, then right onto Market Street, then right onto Cullom Street before ending at the city parking lot at Commerce Street.

Sponsored by the Anderson County American Legion Post 172 and Legion Riders Post 172, in conjunction with VFW Post 12051, Amvets Post 2 and DAV Tri-County Chapter 26, the parade will honor all who have served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Units of the parade will form between the Community Center and the football stadium.

The parade will begin shortly after the November Veterans Breakfast, which will be held in the gymnasium of the Community Center starting at 8:30 a.m.

The only flags that will be allowed to fly in the parade are the U.S. national flag, the Tennessee state flag, and any flags or banners authorized for active duty, Reserve, National Guard or Scouting units.

The registration deadline for parade entries is 5 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 6). T

hose planning to participate should register at the Veterans Service Office, 100 N. Main St., Clinton.

As usual, Veterans Day will be observed on Monday, Nov. 11.
