ADFAC fundraiser will be Saturday
The Bill Wilcox Bow Tie Award, established in 2013 by Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties, is presented to honor local volunteers each year at the Bow Tie Celebration and Fundraiser.
This year’s event will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at 216 South Illinois Ave., Oak Ridge, on Saturday Nov. 16, from 5-8 p.m.
The event this year will honor Jim and Sheila Michel.
Cost of the dinner is $100. It includes dinner, a cash bar and live auctions. Cocktail attire is preferred.
In addition to honoring volunteers, Bow Tie is ADFAC’s signature event that raises funds to support the agency.
The Bow Tie Award is named after the late Bill Wilcox, an ADFAC volunteer and supporter.
In addition to his career at Y-12 and K-25, he was the Oak Ridge city historian, active in numerous nonprofits.
When selecting a winner each year, the Bow Tie Committee looks for individuals with similar values and community-minded activities, the organization said.
