KARM opens new Oak Ridge location
The new store, which sells second-hand goods, opened at 362 South Illinois Ave. on Thursday Nov. 14. It’s at the former K-Mart site next to Planet Fitness and Hobby Lobby.
Julia Dietz, director of marketing for the store, said a ribbon-cutting will be held later.
“We accept all types of donations including clothing, accessories, home goods, electronics, furniture, toys, media, games, antiques, and so much more,” she said.
“One of the best things about a thrift store is that you never know what treasures await,” she said.
The store will have a wide selection of Christmas items Dietz said.
Donors can come to a donation area in front of the building, where they can pull their cars up to the door and employees can assist them with unloading.
The store is hiring for entry-level positions working with donations as a donation processor and working with customers as a sales associate. Those interested can apply at karm.org/new-oakridge-jobs/.
The store is the second KARM location in town, with a smaller one having opened earlier at 461 Oak Ridge Turnpike.
“As with our other locations everything sold or donated to KARM stores helps Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries pursue its mission of restoring lives in Jesus’ name – by providing meals, shelter and life-changing programs to those in our area struggling with homelessness, addiction and mental illness,” a news release stated.
