Lady Wildcats rally past Lebanon
Three score in double-digits in season opener
Oak Ridge High School’s girls basketball team opened the 2024-25 season with a 59-43 comeback victory over Lebanon in a Hall of Fame game played Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Smith County Middle School in South Carthage.
The Lady Wildcats, who have won nine consecutive district tournament championships under Coach Paige Taylor, overcame a sluggish start.
They trailed the Lady Blue Devils 14-8 after the first quarter, but made a 22-6 run in the second quarter to build a 30-20 halftime lead.
Ze’Yana Stewart led Oak Ridge with 19 points, including 10 in the first half. She also contributed four assists and two rebounds.
Ayana Porter added 16 points for the Lady Wildcats, who extended their lead to 41-27 by the end of the third quarter.
Jenna Johnson, a senior center, finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Nine of her points came in the second half.
Oak Ridge will spend Thanksgiving week in Pensacola, Florida. The Lady Wildcats will begin play on Monday.
