Wildcats cruise to 79-59 victory over Lebanon in Hall of Fame Game
The Oak Ridge High School boys basketball team opened its 2024-25 season with a dominant 79-59 win over Lebanon on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Smith County Middle School in South Carthage.
The Wildcats (1-0) got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 19-7 lead in the opening quarter.
Oak Ridge never looked back, with three players scoring in double figures.
Senior Garrett Giles led the way for Oak Ridge with 31 points, including 18 in the second half.
Ray Ray Watson added 20 points, 12 of which came in the first half.
Shamar Greene also made a strong contribution, scoring 12 of his 16 points before the break.
The Wildcats, who led 38-27 at halftime, also received nine points from Charlie Taubenheim.
Oak Ridge, which boasts one of the most-experienced teams in the area, was led by several returners from last season’s squad.
The Wildcats won the District 3-4A regular-season title and tournament championship before reaching
the Region 2-4A semifinals.
The team traveled to Florida for a Thanksgiving tournament after the victory, where they continued their season in the Sunshine State.
