Lady Rams secure win at Sevier County tournament, fall in conference play
The Robertsville Middle School girls basketball team split its two games last week, highlighted by a strong performance in the Sevier County Christmas Tournament.
The Lady Rams defeated West Greene 44-30 on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the tournament’s first round.
Azariah Lee led the way with 16 points, while Bella Bradley added 13 and Blakely Gulmire contributed eight. The tournament was not concluded at press time.
Earlier in the week, Robertsville dropped a 25-23 decision to Jacksboro in a conference game on Monday, Dec. 16.
Offensive struggles proved costly for the Lady Rams in their second loss of the season to Jacksboro.
“We didn’t hit shots, and that was pretty much the story,” Robertsville Coach David Scott said.
Despite the setback, Scott remains optimistic about his young team’s progress and potential.
“We’re getting better, and our defense was pretty good,” Scott said. “We played better against [Jacksboro] than we did last time.
“But we have trouble offensively sometimes,” he said. “When we run and turn people over, that’s when we’re at our best.”
Bradley led Robertsville with 16 points in the loss to Jacksboro.
