Wildcats eyeing perfect District 3-4A record
Oak Ridge High School’s boys basketball team continued its dominance in District 3-4A play last week, maintaining a perfect league record.
The Wildcats (13-3 overall, 6-0 district) capped a three-game stretch with a commanding 65-38 victory over Knoxville Central on Friday night in their lone home game at Wildcat Arena.
Oak Ridge displayed a balanced offensive attack against the Bobcats. Garrett Giles and Ray Ray Watson led the team with 15 points each. Charlie Taubenheim added 11 points, while Cooper Williams and Shamar Green contributed eight and seven points, respectively.
The Wildcats held a 42-17 lead at halftime.
On Thursday, Oak Ridge traveled to Powell, and left Jeff Hunter Gymnasium with a 68-40 win. Giles again led the scoring with 13 points, while Green and Malik Howard chipped in nine points each.
Earlier in the week, the Wildcats routed Campbell County 76-40 in Jacksboro.
Watson paced the offense with 19 points and was one of four Oak Ridge players to score in double figures. Williams scored 15, Eli Peters added 11, and Howard finished with 10 points. Giles contributed eight.
Oak Ridge was set to play at Knoxville Halls on Tuesday, but results were unavailable at press time.
The Wildcats will face Karns on Friday, with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
