Fox Toyota in Clinton has opened its new $900,000 service department extension, which has added eight more bays and created 18 new jobs, dealership Service Manager Jordan Coleman said Saturday.

“We’ve been open for about a week, with eight new lifts, which will be used mostly for oil changes and other minor service work,” he said.

“We really needed it,” he added. “We’re already handling 110 to 140 cars a day, doing anything that can be done within about 45 minutes, such as oil and filter changes, tire rotations, bulb replacements, anything basic.”

The addition, with four huge garage doors on each side, was built on the south side of the building just behind the service entrance lanes, away from the main building, at 228 Fox Family Lane. The dealership is behind Shoney’s, just off Interstate 75, Exit 122.

“Our dealership is busier than it has even been, and we need more space for oil changes,” General Sales Manager Bryan Heddon said in July, just as construction got underway. “That’s because with every vehicle we sell, new or used, we offer free oil changes for two years or 24,000 miles.”

This is the second expansion at Fox Toyota in the past two-and-a-half years. The dealership spent more than $723,000 to build a car wash and detailing shop for its own use beginning in August 2022, a move that freed up five bays for the service department at that time, Heddon said.

That’s also part of the service experience at Fox Toyota, as customers’ cars normally get a free wash when they come in for work, the dealership said.

“Our service department is every busy, and we need more space to do oil changes faster,” Hedden said earlier.

Service Department hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, he noted.

In a building permit issued by the city of Clinton last July 12, the contractor for the 3,500-square-foot “service wing addition” was listed as ESG Construction LLC.

“We’re really glad to have it open finally,” Coleman said Saturday as technicians worked on vehicles inside the new shop area.

“And every customer gets a free car wash, weather-permitting.”
