Wildcats win three thrillers in action-packed week

The Wildcats (13-4 overall, 3-1 in District 3-4A) capped the week Saturday with a 4-2 loss to Providence Academy.
Leadoff hitter and center fielder Warren East had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a solo home run, two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Parker Free went 1-for-4, and Cy Stephens added a hit and a stolen base. Mikee Teasley drew a walk and swiped three bags.
On Friday, Oak Ridge pulled off a dramatic 8-7 walk-off win over Wilson Central in a weekend tournament game. East delivered the game-winning blow, a two-run single that sealed the victory.
Kam Welch homered, drove in three runs and scored twice, while Teasley doubled and scored two runs.
Earlier that day, the Wildcats defeated Mason (Ohio), 10-5. Peyton Witter had a monster outing with three hits, including a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Welch contributed two doubles and crossed the plate twice.
Free collected two hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Richie Ferreira doubled, scored and tallied two RBIs. Whit Renegar went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
Oak Ridge also pulled off a walk-off win against Maryville on Thursday, edging the Rebels 6-5. Teasley capped his big day at the plate with a game-winning two-run single. He also homered and drove in four runs.
On Wednesday, March 26, the Wildcats dropped a 1-0 district decision to Powell, managing just three hits. Teasley doubled, while Free and Stephens each had singles.
Teasley dazzled on the mound despite taking the tough-luck loss. He pitched a complete six-inning game at Powell’s Danny T. Maples Field, surrendering just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out 13.
Oak Ridge opened the week with a 6-2 home district win over Powell. Stephens had two hits and an RBI. Free went 2-for-3 with a double. Welch singled and scored, while Ferreira doubled and drove in a run.
