OR track impresses at Cane Bay meet
Oak Ridge High School’s track and field teams turned in strong performances over the weekend at the Cane Bay Invitational in Summerville, South Carolina.
Competing in one of the Southeast’s most-competitive meets, both the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats had standout results.
The boys 4x800-meter relay team — Rhett Hovater, Nolan Riden, Patrik Vodopivek and Mason Greenhalgh — claimed a runner-up finish with a time of 8 minutes, 13.90 seconds.
Greenhalgh also had an impressive day individually, placing third in both the 800-meter run (1:56.75) and the 1,600-meter run (4:24.60).
In the boys shot put, King Sandoval finished ninth with a throw of 44 feet, 1.25 inches.
The Lady Wildcats’ 4x800-meter relay team also earned a top-five finish. The team of Lily Tice, Emily Edwards, Natalie Adams and Dylan Job placed fifth with a time of 10:17.03.
