Mosaic Arts Festival returns to Community Center Saturday
This Saturday’s fifth-annual Mosaic Arts Festival will include displays of original art in the Clinton Community Center, created by each student from the Clinton City Schools.
There will be arts and crafts booths in the parking lot next to the Clinton Public Library.
On South Hicks Street outside the Community Center, there will be public performances by various groups, including the Clinton High School Jazz Band, Knoxville Children’s Theatre, Dream Dance Studio and more, beginning at 10 a.m.
Inside the library, there will be free craft activities for kids, and in the parking lot outside, there will be a petting zoo with lambs from Chitwood Farm, an array of food trucks and kiosks, and the Townie Turtle art installation and storybook trail.
Also, because this is National Public Library Week, the library is featuring a “postcard party,” with blank postcards to draw on to help people share what they believe makes the library important to the community.
The Mosaic Color Run will kick off the event, beginning at 9 a.m. from Clinton’s Lakefront Park. The rest of the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The main event, coordinated by art teachers from all three Clinton City Schools, will be the more than 1,000 pieces of artwork from the city’s schoolchildren on display.
Every student created art, and each one took inspiration from a famous artist.
On a makeshift stage area, the series of performances will begin at 10 a.m. with the Clinton High School Jazz Band, followed by the Dream Dance Studio at 10:30; the Clinton Middle School Choir at 11:30; the Clinton High School Band and Orff Ensemble drums at noon; the CHS Choir at 12:30 p.m.; the Knoxville Children’s Theatre at 1 p.m.; the Clinton City Schools, Clinton Middle School and Clinton High School Winterguard flag performance at 1:30 p.m.; the Clinton Rotary Club service project awards announcements at 2 p.m.; and the CHS Drama Club at 2:30 p.m.
Vendors will be set up in the parking lot next to the library featuring handmade ceramics and jewelry, acrylics, oil paintings, hand-painted bottles with fairy lights, bookmarks, wood carvings, hand lettering, edge art engravings, botanical illustrations, mixed media, and more.
Happy House Eclectic of Oak Ridge is having pottery demonstrations.
The Mosaic Arts Festival is presented by Historic Downtown Clinton in conjunction with the city of Clinton and Clinton City Schools.
There are no admissions charges to any of the events.
