Lady Wildcats drop close one to Chattanooga Central, fall to Ooltewah

The Lady Wildcats (3-12 overall, 1-5 in District 3-4A) dropped a pair of games Saturday in the Chattanooga area, falling to Chattanooga Central 6-5 and then to Ooltewah 9-3.

“We’re just not playing good softball right now,” Oak Ridge Coach Jeremy Gill said. “We’re not hitting the ball.

“We scored five runs [against Chattanooga Central], but we just couldn’t get the timely hits. That was a very average team. It’s not like they’re a (Knoxville) Central or a Powell. But they got the timely hits, and we didn’t.”

Against the Lady Pounders (12-5), Kaylee Hickman went 2-for-3, while Morgan Perry was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Emmerson Bradshaw singled and scored a run.

In the loss to the Lady Owls, Leah Curran went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, a run scored and an RBI. Hickman was 1-for-1 and scored a run. Amiyah King singled and drove in a run, while Gloria Rust walked and swiped two bases.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, April 1, the Lady Wildcats fell to Knoxville Central 11-2 at Fountain City Ballpark.

Brenna Bradshaw and King both doubled and scored, while Perry and Hickman each had a hit and an RBI.
