Dragons eliminated after three-game tourney run

The 2025 season came to an end for the Clinton High School baseball team last week in the District 4-AAA tournament at Anderson County.

The fourth-seeded Dragons were eliminated Thursday by No. 2 seed Union County, falling to the Patriots 4-1.

Clinton, which finished the season with a 15-20 overall record, couldn’t get the bats going in its tournament finale. The Dragons managed just two hits.

Will Brooks went 1-for-3 and drove in the team’s lone run. Jake Rittenberry also had a hit.

Clinton advanced to face Union County by overpowering Scott 19-3 earlier in the tournament.

The Dragons jumped out quickly, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. They followed with eight runs in the second and capped the blowout with a seven-run fourth inning.

Jackson Webb went a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple, scoring three runs and driving in one.

Brooks also had four hits, drove in three and scored twice. JP Robbins went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI.

Alex Duggins had two hits, including a double, while collecting two RBIs and scoring twice.

Bryson Douglas also had two hits with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Dallas Beets contributed two hits, an RBI and a run. Jackson Barrett had a hit, scored twice and drove in a run.

The Dragons opened the tournament Tuesday, April 29, with a 12-9 victory over fifth-seeded Cumberland Gap.

Brooks had two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs. Webb went 3-for-3, scored three times, stole a base and had an RBI. Beets doubled and drove in two runs. Rittenberry collected two hits and an RBI.

In their second game on April 29, Clinton dropped a 5-1 decision to top-seeded Anderson County.

Rittenberry singled and drove in the Dragons’ lone run. Robbins singled and scored, while Webb and Barrett also had base hits.
