Trash change
Clinton garbage routes get first shakeup since ’97

This map shows the areas for trash pickup that started June 16. The green area, north of Spring Street and west of North Charles G. Seivers Boulevard, will get its trash picked up on Mondays. The blue area, south of Spring Street and west of South Seivers Boulevard, will have pickups on Tuesdays. The yellow area, in between the Clinch River and South Seivers Boulevard, will get its trash picked up on Wednesdays. The orange area northeast of Clinch Avenue and east of Seivers Boulevard and continuing northward will get its trash picked up on Thursdays. The red area on the south side of the Clinch River and west of Clinch Avenue will get trash picked up on Fridays.
“These changes are part of an ongoing effort to improve route efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and enhance overall service to Clinton residents,” a news release stated.
Clinton City Manager Roger Houck said the changes were the first since 1997. He said they reflect changes in Clinton’s population distribution.
The changes won’t affect all residents. Only residents who receive a day change tag on their cart or mailbox will have their day of service adjusted.
Both the city of Clinton and Waste Connections will be making maps available for residents to verify their day of service.
The city stated residents should have garbage carts at the curb by 6 a.m. on their new collection day.
“Missed collections during the transition period will be addressed as quickly as possible,” it stated.
The new map has different areas of Clinton served on Monday through Friday.
