Veterans breakfast to be held Saturday
Military veterans from Anderson County are invited to come together Saturday (July 12) for the monthly veterans breakfast at the Clinton Community Center.
The chow line opens at 8:30 a.m. and there will be a program at 9 a.m. honoring veterans.
Special speaker this month will be Powell native and Korean War veteran Harold Maples, author of “A Soldier’s Story Remembered — Family, Service and Legacy.”
This month’s event is sponsored by Clinch River Home Health Care.
James and Cristie Woods from Pyro Shows are July’s doughnut sponsors.
These breakfasts are held to recognize and honor local veterans and their families for their service to the United States.
Many generous donors are also recognized for providing regular monthly door prizes.
Anderson County residents and community volunteers are working together to make the breakfasts a free monthly event that allow veterans of all ages and branches to meet and share stories together.
Veterans are welcome to bring spouses, family or friends.
The city of Clinton is recognized as a special sponsor for hosting the monthly location and set up.
Local media are especially recognized for their role in letting veterans know about the breakfasts each month at the Community Center.
