Operated by Robert Dabney and Brittany Bolton, who live in Rocky Top, the new business is in the building that formerly housed the Hensley Girls Market and Deli.
There are several booths and tables in the restaurant, which is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Bolton said she and Dabney, who have been together 12 years, have long had a dream of operating their own restaurant, and they decided to take the leap when the Hensley Girls building became available recently.
She said she has worked as a server in restaurants, and her mother owns and operates The Local, a popular restaurant in LaFollette.
The couple plans to hold a grand opening of the restaurant this coming weekend, after their soft opening last Tuesday (July 1).
“After eight years of restaurant experience, we’re beyond excited to bring something fresh and local to the community,” they said on the Facebook page for the new business.
“From hot sandwiches and cold drinks to quick snacks and lake-day essentials (coming soon), we’ve got you covered,” they said. “And this is just the beginning! We have so many ideas in the works to make this your favorite stop near the lake.”
The address of the business is 1103 Park Lane, Andersonville. Besides the tables and booths for inside dining, Norris Lake Market & Deli also has a large wooden deck at the rear, which will soon be available for outside dining.
Bolton and Dabney are considering applying for a beer permit, along with offering karaoke and live music.
They’re also looking into offering kayak rentals by next summer, and perhaps even setting up a game room in the rear of the building, they said.
Among their lunch/dinner menu items are chicken tenders, cheeseburgers, fried catfish, hot dogs, fried bologna sandwiches, steamed hoagies, French fries, onion rings, tater tots, ad macaroni and cheese.
Breakfast includes chicken or sausage biscuits, egg sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, bacon, hashbrowns, and omelets.
Soft-serve ice cream cones and dishes are available in two flavors, and chocolate-peanut butter no-bake cookies are among dessert items.
There is also a children’s menu.
