The Anderson County High School girls soccer team had its final preseason tune-up Saturday as it hosted a play day at home.

Lady Mavericks Coach Chris Curtin said he was pleased with the effort from both his varsity and junior varsity squads.

“We had a great turnout as far as teams,” Curtin said. “This was an opportunity for our girls to work out some kinks.”

The event gave Anderson County a chance to test itself against outside competition ahead of the regular season.

“It was also a chance for the girls to play against other teams,” Curtin added. “We had both varsity and JV games, and each team won one and lost one. That’s 50 percent, so that’s not terrible. I felt like it was good.”

The Lady Mavericks will open their 2025 season at home against Oliver Springs on Monday, Aug. 18.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
