Walker, Cutler pace ACHS runners in season opener

The 2025 high school cross country season is underway for both Anderson County teams.

The Mavericks and Lady Mavericks opened their campaigns Saturday at the Victor Ashe Park Fall Classic in Northwest Knoxville.

The boys finished ninth in the team standings, while the girls placed 14th.

John Cutler led the Mavericks, clocking 17 minutes, 25.20 seconds on the 5,000-meter course.

Cameron Hardy finished 39th with a time of 18:04.50.

Avian Laster was 63rd (18:39.60), Franklin Downs placed 98th (19:44.50) and Toby Day closed out the team scoring in 125th (20:50.10).

For the Lady Mavericks, Jordan Walker posted the team’s best finish, placing 18th in 21:00. Rebekah Berg finished 67th (23:00.80).

Sydney Day came in 79th (23:24.20), while Emma Owens (142nd, 26:32.70) and Rachel Garbes (143rd, 26:35.30) rounded out the lineup.
