Mavs share Region 2-A golf championship

It was almost a storybook ending for Anderson County High School’s golfers at the 2025 Region 2-A championships at Springbrook Golf and Country Club.

Both the Mavericks and Lady Mavericks turned in standout performances and walked away as regional co-champions — narrowly missing outright team titles and automatic state berths.

The Mavericks tied with Kingston for first place with identical team scores of 319.

Freshman Maddox Tackett captured the boys’ individual region championship, earning Low Medalist honors with a 77.

Max Stanfill followed closely with a 78 to finish second.

Luke Baldwin and Peyton Warwick carded 82s, while Hoyt Chadwell shot 86.

On the girls’ side, Sydney May led the Lady Mavericks with a Low Medalist round of 79; Molly Jackson shot an 89.

Their combined 188 tied Alcoa for the team title, but the Lady Tornadoes advanced to the state tournament on a tiebreaker.

“Our kids played really well,” first-year ACHS Coach Dallas Cole said. “Maddox Tackett won the boys’ championship, Sydney May won for the girls, and Max finished second. I’m really proud of all of them.”

Tackett, May, Stanfill and Jackson will represent Anderson County at the TSSAA state championships on Thursday and Friday at Sevierville Golf Club.
