Bostrom earns medal at Cove Lake meet


Clinton’s Cooper Bostrom finished seventh overall at the Cove Lake Invitational boys race with a time of 17:35.32.
The Clinton High School cross country teams continued their solid seasons Thursday afternoon at the Cove Lake Invitational in Caryville.

Every Dragon and Lady Dragon runner recorded a personal-best time.

For the Clinton boys, it was a standout day.

Junior Cooper Bostrom earned a medal with a seventh-place finish, crossing the line in 17 minutes, 35.52 seconds.

“Cooper had a great day and ran a great race,” Coach Tim Kumes said. “He finished under 18 minutes and won his first medal. He was seventh in a field of 100 athletes.”

Freshman Baylor Cool continued his impressive debut season, taking 34th place with a time of 19:14.51.

“Baylor has been working hard all year, and now he’s seeing the payoff,” Kumes said.

Caleb Holt placed 65th (20:27.77) and turned in another solid effort, while Max Bostrom finished 78th (21:41.27) and Tyler Gomez came in 99th (23:04.78).

The Lady Dragons had two competitors in the girls’ race. Lily West finished 23rd with a time of 23:10.25, and Piper Bostrom followed in 41st at 24:49.75.
