Wildcats shine under Memphis lights

The Oak Ridge High School cross country teams gave a good showing Friday night in Memphis at the prestigious Hoka Frank Horton Night Classic, an elite meet featuring some of the top programs and athletes from across the Southeast.

For the Wildcats, senior Mason Greenhalgh led the way, finishing the 5K course in 16 minutes, 1.60 seconds.

Rhett Hovater followed, placing 80th in 16:45.80, while William Hetrick (145th, 17:56.80), James Phillips (161st, 18:11.60), and Ben Greear (170th, 18:23.20) rounded out the team scoring.

On the girls’ side, Dylan Job led the Lady Wildcats with a strong 27th-place finish in 19:38.90.

Brooke Rossner was next in 69th (20:24.40), followed by Natalie Adams (91st, 20:55.40) and Elly Hartman (128th, 22:16.60).

Oak Ridge Head Coach Ed Wright praised the teams’ efforts as the Wildcats continue to prepare for postseason meets later this fall.
