Clinton golfers finish fifth at region
Clinton High School saw both of its golf teams’ seasons come to an end at the Region 2-A tournament early last week at Springbrook Golf and Country Club.
The Dragons finished fifth with a team score of 357.
Kingston and Anderson County tied for first at 319, with the Yellow Jackets advancing to this week’s state tournament — scheduled for Thursday and Friday at Sevierville Golf Club — after winning a tiebreaker.
Grant Hannah led Clinton with an 81. JP Robbins followed with an 89, Isaiah Williams shot a 93, and Aden Golden rounded out the scoring with a 94.
“We had a great year, but it just didn’t end the way we wanted it to,” Clinton Coach Matt Cain said. “Now, we just have to go back to work and figure out how we can take the next step.”
The entire CHS boys team will return next season.
“We get everybody back, and we’ll look to make it back and do better next year,” Cain said.
The Lady Dragons sent two golfers to the region tournament. Sahara Lowe carded a 99, and senior Kennedy Crowley closed out her high school career with a 111.
“Sahara played well, and Kennedy was able to finish her career at the region, which was a good way for her to go out,” Cain said.
