Retired teachers gather for fall picnic

Anderson County-Clinton City Retired Teachers Association held its first fall gathering recently at the home of V.L. and Pat Stonecipher for a picnic. Members donated pet supplies to the Anderson County Animal Shelter. Special guest Austin Sauerbrei, author of “Trouble! at Coal Creek,” discussed his book about the 1891 Coal Creek War, a local effort to abolish the convict-leasing system in coal mines.
