Moody hits 1,000; Lady Dragons start season 2-0

Clinton High School’s girls basketball team opened the 2025-26 season with back-to-back victories — and a major personal milestone for one of its senior leaders.

Guard Josie Moody reached 1,000 career points in the first quarter of Clinton’s 51-39 win over Austin-East on Monday, Nov. 17.

She went on to post a double-double, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. She was one of three Lady Dragons to score in double figures in the opener.

Caylin Taylor had 12 points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists, while Addi Gamble added 10 points. Gamble also stuffed the stat sheet with seven steals, four assists and a block. Jailie Rodd chipped in six points and an assist.

Clinton (2-0) backed up its strong debut with a 50-37 road victory at Lenoir City in an early Saturday morning tipoff.

“We got a big road win against a good Lenoir City team,” Clinton Coach Alicia Daugherty said.

Moody logged her second double-double of the week, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to go with a steal. Taylor paced the Lady Dragons with 16 points and added five boards, three assists and three steals.

Gamble finished with seven points, six assists, three rebounds, three steals and a block.

Rodd and Topanga Easterday scored four points each. Rodd added two assists, two rebounds and two steals, while Easterday contributed two rebounds and an assist.
