Letter to the Editor
The Holiday Bureau had a very successful Christmas this year. We served more than 400 families with toys, bicycles, decorations, and trees. All this was made possible by the donations of our many donors.
The Holiday Bureau would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their generosity this year. Many children’s dreams came true through your help.
The following businesses provided food for our volunteers during our Christmas toy give out. Outback, Applebee’s, Buddy’s BBQ, Pizza Hut, Bojangles, McDonald’s on Illinois Ave. & the Turnpike, Calhoun’s on Kingston Pike, Knoxville and in Oak Ridge.
The following businesses and organizations collected or purchased toys for us this year. National Fitness members and staff, Cash Express, St. Mary’s White Elephant, The Lion’s Club, Concord United Methodist Church Farragut Foundation Class, 1st Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Oak Ridge, Highway Transport Helping Hands Toys from truckers, Tranzonic Corp. of Knoxville, and The Episcopal School of Knoxville, and The Episcopal School of Knoxville, 1st Grade Class, for a large U-Haul truck of toys they collected.
Many individuals also donated new and used toys and non-perishable food to us this year, for which we are very thankful.
We would also like to thank the Girl Scouts for working on Barbies evert year,
Exceptional Volunteers: ORAU employees, the City of Oak Ridge Recreation Department employees, Clinton City Manager Roger Houck for allowing us to use the Community Center for our Clinton sign-ups this year, Clinton Fire Chief, Jeff Little, and Firefighters. We would also like to thank Anderson Co. Sheriff’s Dept., and inmates, and our year round regular volunteers that work every week.
Monetary donations were given by Food City Corp., Atkins (Isotek) Corp. and Employees, Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge, Anderson County Chapter of Knoxville Area Realtors, Alpha Kappa Sorority, Faith Promise Church Foust/View Small Group members, Oak Ridge Area Doll Club, and Give Lively Foundation.
