Anderson County Director of Schools Tim Parrott called the building the “final phase” for that field in comments to the Anderson County Commission on Jan. 20.
The new building, he said, would have a weight room, locker rooms and equipment storage.
He said the building has “rough plumbing” and “rough wiring” completed, and the concrete is drying. He hoped to have the building done before the upcoming softball season.
A report to the County Commission described it as a $200,000 project.
The same report listed other construction and improvement projects underway or planned throughout the school system. Among them is a $3 million welding and agriculture building for CHS, which the report stated is 99% complete.
