Gamble, Maddox top District 4-AAA honors

Lockard, Cupples named ‘Coaches of the Year’

Several area players and two coaches were recognized recently as District 4-AAA coaches announced their all-district basketball teams.

Anderson County High School girls coach Mitch Cupples was named Coach of the Year, while Clinton High School boys coach Chris Lockard earned Coach of the Year honors on the boys side.

Clinton swept the Player of the Year awards. Addi Gamble was named the girls Player of the Year, while Bryson Maddox claimed the boys top honor.

Clinton’s Kenzlee Hutchison and Kyleigh Gallaher represented the Lady Dragons on the all-academic team. Anderson County’s Julia Owens and Ashton Thurman were also named to the all-academic squad.

Anderson County senior Macy Basford and junior Bethany Lowe earned first-team honors, along with Clinton’s Josie Moody.

Second-team selections included Clinton’s Lanee Carmichael and Caylin Taylor, along with Anderson County’s Addison Grooms and Emerie Bullock.

Honorable mentions for the girls went to Hutchison, Jailie Rodd and Topanga Easterday of Clinton.

On the boys side, Clinton’s Tristian Lundy and Anderson County’s Cam Lawson garnered first-team honors.

Second-team recognition went to Anderson County’s Colton Lawson and Landry Sharp, and Clinton’s Jaxson Alcorn and Braylen Hayden.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Rocky Brown, Justin Bunch and Jaxon Price of Anderson County, along with Ben Tackett, Isaiah Williams and Alcorn of Clinton.

Reese Russell and Ethan Dorton represented Anderson County on the all-academic team.

In District 4-4A, Oak Ridge placed three boys on the all-district team as Charlie Taubenheim, Ethan James and Ja’Rell Jemerson earned honors. For the Lady Wildcats, Jenayah Pippins and Eviya Mitchell were recognized as all-district selections.
