The 2026 season is off to a tough start for the Clinton High School baseball team.

The Dragons have lost five of their first six games, including all three contests they played last week.

Clinton closed the week Saturday with a 12-9 loss to Nashville Christian School.

The Dragons scored six runs in the third inning, added two more in the fourth, and plated another run later in the game, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Jackson Webb had a big day at the plate against Nashville Christian. He went 1-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run scored. JP Robbins was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Peyton Douglas doubled, drove in a run and scored twice, while Camden Britton singled and scored. Jake Rittenberry also singled and scored for Clinton.

On Friday, the Dragons dropped a 16-1 decision to Knoxville Halls.

Webb singled and stole a base against the Red Devils, while Britton scored Clinton’s lone run.

Clinton (1-5) opened the week with a 14-4 loss to Pigeon Forge on Tuesday, March 10.

Robbins went 1-for-2 with an RBI and stole three bases.

Rittenberry finished 1-for-2 with a double and a stolen base. Britton went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Jaxon Young singled and drove in a run, while Aden Golden went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Despite the slow start, Clinton Coach Eric Hart, in his second season, hasn’t hit the panic button.

“I wouldn’t say that we’re struggling,” Hart said. “We’ve played a tough schedule and we just haven’t put everything together in all three phases of the game.

“We’ve had days where we’ve swung the bat well and we don’t pitch well, and then we have days where we pitch well and then we don’t get a big hit. We just have to take every game and learn from it whether we win or lose.”
