Hicks is new director for Briceville Friendship Center

April Hicks is now director of the Briceville Friendship Center.

The center is at 921 Andys Ridge Road in Briceville.

While it has received funding from the Missions Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and is Christian based, the center is open to everyone.

Hicks is encouraging participation in the center’s programs from various local churches in the region and wants them to plan their own programs for the center as well.

“Many people think that the center only exists for the ‘downtown’ area of Briceville, near the school,” she stated in an email “The BFC actually serves the entire area within the 37710 zip code, plus Beech Grove.”

Prior to becoming director, Hicks led an after-school Bible study program at the center, which meets on Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

To contact the center call 865-816-2301 or email welcome@bricevillefriendshipcenter.org.

The center will have the following programs and events and is looking for people to assist with them:

Pre-Easter Event

From 1 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, will be a pre-Easter event with stations based on the Romans Road to Salvation.

The center is looking for four or more volunteers to help children make a resurrection garden craft.

Mother’s Day Out

Drop off your kindergarten through fifth-grade children for play time and a Mother’s Day craft while moms can relax for a few hours on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The center is looking for church sponsors as well as five or more volunteers to lead activities.
