Local track teams deliver big at weekend meets

All three local high school track and field programs had a busy weekend.

Anderson County and Oak Ridge competed in the Hardin Valley Invitational, while Clinton was in action at Loudon High School.

At Hardin Valley Academy, Lady Mavericks distance specialist Ava Moody finished second in both the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs, with a time of 2 minutes, 23.52 seconds in the 800 and 5:10.72 in the 1,600.

For the Anderson County boys, Luke Dark won the shot put with a mark of 62 feet, 4.25 inches. He was sixth in the discus (137-4).

Cameron Hardy finished second in the 3,200-meter run (10:06.48), and Joseph Hall won the long jump with a leap of 22-4.50.

For the Lady Wildcats, Madelyn Frazier was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 78-11.

Oak Ridge’s Mason Greenhalgh won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.48, and James Phillips finished ninth in the 400-meter dash in 51.62 seconds.

At Loudon, the Lady Dragons swept the top two spots in the 100-meter dash as Saviah Stewart was first (13.36) and Maliyah Drake was second (13.37).

Stewart also took second in the 200-meter dash (28.07), while Drake was third (28.27). Drake also finished second in the long jump (13-10.50).

Lily West won the 1,600-meter run for Clinton, crossing the finish line in 6:13.92. She was third in the 800-meter run in 2:57.33.

Kenzlee Hutchison finished fourth in the 800-meter run (3:04.25). She also won the shot put (33-3).

Isabella Morabito was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (19.19), while Regan Keller was fifth (20.28). Keller also finished seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:11.39).

For the Dragons, Landon Hamby finished fourth in the boys 100-meter dash in 11.97 seconds, while Marshon Matthews was fourth in the 200-meter dash (25.13).

Baylor Cool won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.16, and Dylan Alcott claimed eighth in the long jump (16-5.50).
